Welcome to the new Domain Name forum on MainStreamWebmasters.com, as sponsored by Domain Name Systems (http://www.domainnamesystems.com).

If it has to do with Domains, this is a good spot. God knows there's always some talk about going on about domains and where they are headed, political influences, and the resale market.

Questions about domains, registries, domain policies, UDRP, sales, resales, and even IP rights/ trademarks, as the case may be. I hope to be able to answer each of your questions as my time permits.

As many of you already know us, I'll keep the sales pitch about us short and to the point, we are one of the first in the business, and we're still here. We've become one of the largest in the world, and have clients in most every country on the face of this planet. Much of the innovation you see today with registrars originated at our site, and we still maintain a high value of customer support for each and every one of our clients.

Welcome

Very happy to have you aboard and to be working with you, Gord! cheers to you!

Obviously you've been a long-time poster here. But tell folks a bit about yourself, or your company. How long has DNS been around? (Amazing, btw, that other registrars never thought of that, having D.N.S. as their name! hehe)

What domain name extensions or TLDs do you handle? How many domains (if you tell) do you handle? What services do you offer?

Don't be shy! cool

ahhh Harry .. I usually am a humble kind of guy .. (ok, no comments from the peanut gallery ..lol)

BUT !!!! seeing as you asked .. lol

Seriously though, Domain Name Systems or DNS as its affectionately referred to by its many clients has been operating since 1999 under my care and control. We've seen many changes in the industry, some good , some bad and certainly we've weathered the dot com bust a few years ago.

Lately we've seen an upswing in terms of new registrations and certainly we've seen a resurgence in aftermarket domain sales (resells by speculators or domainers as they prefer to be called).

For a lot of reasons, I can't go into specific numbers about our clients and their domains, but suffice it to say that we have a good market share, and are ever increasing that.

Currently we able to handle the regular fare of domains CNOIB (.com .net .org .info .biz), as well as we have accreditations for several country code names such as .us and .uk. In addition we can resister and manage .ca and .de , so you can see we have a wide range of available names.

Some of the other services we offer is an expired domains service (which precedes an actual deletion at the registry), and certainly the normal fare of privacy, and managed dns services.

One of the things we pride ourselves on is that we actually KNOW the majority of our clientele, and they have become accustomed to the extremely high level of service we provide for them. Support ticket replies are averaged at less than 1 hour.

We may not be the least expensive in the field, but we are certainly are cost effective and we do try to understand certain cost pressures within the industry., and have multiple registration discounts. And certainly we dont hit you with 2 pages of upsell ads when trying to complete a transaction.

We have 2 offices in two countries and any of our staff in any of them, can handle a support issue for you. I myself am somewhat difficult to get a hold of at times, but certainly our staff are friendly and helpful.

Hi Electra !

and thank you for the welcome smile

The time it takes for a transfer varies.

If you are doing an internal acct to acct transfer within our system, it takes seconds.

Registrar to registrar transfer is somewhat more convoluted.

Initially within 24 hours , you'll get a confirmation email from your new registrar.

Usually then you get a "no don't leave me" email from the losing registrar.

The it can be up to 9 days later, but normally it averages around 5 total.

I've been using Gord's DNS since day one years ago and still do.
Customer service is a phone call away and they always make you feel like you're their most important customer.

Welcome on board Gord!

cheers to you!

Thank you DK for the nice welcome and the kudo's .. smile

Well thats always been our goal .. to make each client feel like they are our biggest and only customer.

Customer service is king !!

It may not seem like much , but when we reply to support tickets, we try to use the clients name in the reply ie: Hello Fred type of thing, so that they dont feel like a number in the mass of clients we care for.

Another thing we never implemented was that annoying "press 1 for sales , press 2 for .." I may be old fashioned in some respects, but really I always enjoy a person answering the phone when I call somewhere, and felt that our clients would too. We do have voicemail, if the lines are busy, but we definately attempt to ensure you get a live voice when calling in.

And our clients appreciate that in the grand scheme of things, especially in todays ever rapidly increasing impersonal world. Sometimes its the little things that mean so much to people.

At the end of this month we will have completed our 6th full year in the domain registrar business. I've known a good number of our clients for longer than that too. Amazing how time flies.

And good luck with RevenueGateway. It would appear as though you've got another winning formula going for you there smile
