Anyone know of any good sources, good means RELIABLE, to buy traffic?
I haven't had much success with the traffic I've bought so far.

Seems people -- at least around here -- don't spend money on traffic.

Wonder if those who do just use Google Adwords instead?

if your traffic ranking is less than 100k in alexa, then buying traffic will be a good option to increase alexa traffic ranking.

I use Google Analytics in my website. I have purchased traffic from few providers. I can see their name in google analytics website traffic details.

So i think it is not good.
